Why You’re Sabotaging Your Weight Loss Efforts

Coaching & NLP l Weight Loss l Motivation l Confidence

When it comes to weight loss, do you take two steps forward and one back?

Do you have a niggly voice in your brain telling you that you can’t make it, that you’re going to fail?

Do you feel a lack of confidence, a lack of certainty, a feeling that you’re not good enough, a feeling that you’re too old for this, that I don’t deserve this, that it’s too late for me, what if I fail, what will people think, what if I’m doomed to be fat forever…?

If you identify with some or all of what I just mentioned, it is because your brain may have been programmed to keep you fat. In your past, something happened, someone said something or did something, didn’t say something or didn’t do something… that got to the very chore of your mind and soul, that embedded certain beliefs within you about who you are, what you are, and what you are and aren’t capable of achieving.

Why otherwise would you doubt yourself and your abilities when you set goals for yourself? Why would you procrastinate? Why is there a difference between what you say you want and what you actually do?

It’s what new scientific discoveries call neuro-dissonance.

What’s stopping you from getting the body you want?

You are either in control of your thoughts and your goals, or you are letting old thoughts control and destroy your current efforts.

Fears, anxieties, reasons, excuses… if you really want to achieve your weight loss goals, you must release and let go of all that crap. You must break those patterns of thought and behaviour that have been keeping you from getting what you want and deserve.

You see, the explicit part of your brain (what amounts to about 2% of the brain) is able to choose your goals, imagine what you want to achieve, explain it, and really want it.

The implicit part of your brain (the 98% that represents self-image) is telling you that you are not good enough, smart enough, young enough, able enough…

According to scientists, if you don’t align the explicit part of your brain with your implicit self-image, you have what’s called an incoherent pattern; if there is no resonance between your chosen goals and your beliefs about yourself and what you can do, then there is neuro-dissonance. This means your goals, your dreams, your vision…  and your self-image don’t match.

This causes confusion of the brain, which can end up in a chaotic vibrational estate of confusion, procrastination, frustration, anxiety, stress, fear and negativity; this is usually when people start rationalizing and start looking for reasons and excuses as to why they haven’t done something, or they haven’t been able to follow though… makes sense?

If you don’t get this sorted, you’ll forever be at the mercy of your old limiting thoughts, beliefs, and behaviours.

If you do, you’ll achieve a state of neuro-resonance; where the explicit part of the brain and the implicit part of the brain match and are coherent with each other. When this happens magic happens!

The key is to learn to become more aware and to understand that fear is normal and human, but that you need to learn how to override your fears in order to get what you want and deserve.

You also need to change your beliefs about what’s possible for you to achieve. You need to understand that in order to get what you want you’re going to have to change your habits and master your emotions.

How? By re-wiring your brain and re-programming your thinking. By using mindfulness, meditation and visualization techniques so that you will finally start to act in ways that match your goals and you’ll be able to naturally and effortlessly stick with your plans. Just think about this…

If you were totally confident and certain of yourself and your capabilities, what would you be able to achive?
